Privacy policy

Last updated November 6, 2026. This is the same policy you can read in the app under Settings → Privacy policy.

Overview

WONKRZ Inc. ("we") makes Aether Tail. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, email address or contacts.

Information stored on your device

Your settings (such as the board, Easy mode, colors, dark mode, numbers on dots and play-time limits), whether you have seen the tutorial, how long you have been playing (used for break reminders), how many great games you have had and how many games you have played on this version (used to decide when to ask for a review), your best scores and game statistics, the boards and colors you have unlocked, the achievements you have earned, your age band and parental controls (described below) are stored on your device. They are never sent to us, and deleting the app removes them. Achievements and their progress can also be sent to Game Center or Google Play Games, as described below.

Advertising

Aether Tail is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, approximate location, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Google uses this data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings. Ads are chosen to suit your age band (below): players under 13, and anyone while parental controls are on, get only ads rated for general audiences, marked for child treatment and never personalized; teens and players whose age is unknown get ads rated up to PG, never personalized. Only an adult can get personalized ads. On iPhone the app asks to track you only if your device says you are 18 or older, and does not track you across other companies' apps unless you allow it. If you buy Remove ads, the app stops requesting ads altogether.

Your age range

The first time you open Aether Tail, it asks your device for your age range: Apple's Declared Age Range on iPhone, or Google Play Age Signals on Android. Your device decides whether to share it, and may ask you or a parent first. Aether Tail keeps only your age band (under 13, 13 to 17, 18 or older, or unknown) and whether a parent manages your device, never your age or birth date, and asks again about every six months. It uses them only to choose suitable ads and to turn parental controls on for younger players. They stay on your device and are never sent to us or to advertisers.

Parental controls

Parental controls keep a record of how long Aether Tail was played and how many games were played each day, for the last 14 days, so a parent can see it. A parent PIN, if set, is stored only as a salted hash. All of this stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Purchases

The optional Remove ads purchase is handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. The app keeps a note on your device that you bought it, and asks the store to confirm it when you restore your purchase.

Game Center and Google Play Games

If you are signed in to Game Center (on iPhone and iPad) or Google Play Games (on Android), Aether Tail sends the achievements you earn and your progress towards them (such as how many pellets you have eaten or games you have played) to Apple or Google, so they appear on your Game Center or Play Games profile and, depending on your settings there, to your friends. Signing in also shares your player profile (such as your nickname) with the app on your device. This data goes to Apple or Google, not to us, and they handle it under their own privacy policies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can turn this off for Aether Tail at any time in Settings → Achievements: the app then stops signing in and sends nothing more. Achievements already sent stay on your profile; you can manage or remove them in your Game Center or Play Games settings.

Leaderboards: while this is on, Aether Tail also sends your best score on each board (Normal mode) and how many pellets you have eaten to Apple's or Google's leaderboards, where other players can see them with your Game Center or Play Games nickname. While parental controls are on, no scores are sent unless a parent allows leaderboards in Settings → Parents → Parental controls. Turning leaderboards off stops sending; scores already sent stay on the leaderboards, and you can manage them in your Game Center or Play Games account.

Children

Aether Tail is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. When a device says a player is under 13, or a parent manages it, Aether Tail turns parental controls on and shows only ads suitable for children, without personalization.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it in the app and change the "last updated" date.
